DICK TIGER PROTESTED BIAFRA GENOCIDE
Dick Tiger returned his OBE (Order of the British Empire) medal to the British government in 1968 in protest of their involvement in the Biafra Genocide (also known as the Biafran War). Dick Tiger, whose real name was Richard Ihetu, was a world champion boxer who held the undisputed middleweight title and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. His protest was a significant act of defiance against the British government's support of the Nigerian government during the conflict.
